This is the story of our time
A time of men
All rusty and falling apart
But still holding on

Another war started
Killing many to avenge the few
Unable to stop and look
While the forests burn

In a dog eat dog world
The dreams of mad men
Become self fulfilling prophecies
Of toxic air and poisened wells

Chains and walls for security
Battery acid for hydration
Rotten corpses for food
And propaganda to make it go down

Truth was once god
Now it’s just a bit of garnish
On fake news and paid marketing
Honesty outlawed

Virtue, only for signalling
Work only to sell
Everyone is victim or predator
And "they" are always the problem

Stress is to be managed
Injuries just bandaged over
Knowledge must be patented
Healers hung on crosses

When pain is what makes a man
And kindness is a limited liability
I understand if you want to flee
I know you’ll be lured back in

Hope is hard to come by
In all the draining noise
Good examples are rare
But a few still exist

So I pray for us all
And I do what I can
And may the grace of the goddess
Help us awaken.
