Ordinary days

Ordinary days

I was so annoyed,
The restaurant just forgot our order

My Buddhist friend said I was attached
To pleasure, convenience, my ego

I shrugged him off
Told him he was too attached to Buddhism

I made him coffee
And he wasn’t happy because I didn’t have sugar

“Who doesn’t have sugar at home?!”
Who drinks coffee with sugar!

And then the internet
For some reason too slow

Couldn’t stream a movie
So we just scrolled on instagram

No new likes, he said
On his new reel on equanimity

I laughed out loud
He knew what I meant

We played cards
And shared social media engagement tips

We worried about world peace
And people leaving trash on the street

And then he had to leave
For a last minute tinder date

I brushed my teeth
And went to bed hungry

Some days are just so
Fascinatingly ordinary
