On the way

On the way

On the way to you
I was distracted
Busy with the noise
Busy in my own mind
Planning, worrying, and planning again

Remembering
Little by little
The path I was on
All the work we had put into this
Over lifetimes

Still carrying
Some of the scars
Healing ever so gently
As the air changes
Breeze ushering in the present moment

And I feel so much
As the breath fills my body

One wrong move
Led to another right one
Missed opportunities
Giving way to grace
Confused, but grateful

Starting to see
Slowly
The sun, pushing its way through the clouds
A seed
Turns into a sapling

Now already a flower
On a young branch
Leaves, rushing to greet the spring
After a long long winter
An ambush of color

To make even me, notice..

How could I hold
Anything against you
How much I missed
Your unwavering presence
And how many books
Could I fill with stories past

Long poems
Of rumination
Of broken promises
Of misunderstandings
Of pain
And yet

There is only one explanation
Of this dramatic turn around
You
Obviously you
Undeniably you
With love

The only way to
Name this journey, path, and destination

And now
Here we are
Here we are
Here we are
