Innocence

Innocence

I remember
A long time ago
Before work and socializing
Before college and sports

Before chasing after girls
Before books and ideas
Before my body and mind split
Before goals and purpose

Before romantic love
Before I knew passion
Before madness
Life flowed differently

Not all beautiful and not all crazy
Kind of simple you know
When we cried if it hurt
And played tag, and hide and seek

When hunger was real
And food tasted of heaven
Friends were loved, just because
Not even god existed
In that age of innocence.
